The 10-year-old child who was 'raped and killed by her mother's lover' had an STD.

Police discovered Victoria Martens' fragmented body in a burning blanket in the bath after receiving a noise complaint.

A 10-year-old child contracted a sexually transmitted disease before being allegedly raped, murdered, and mutilated by her mother's lover.


According to a recently released autopsy report, Victoria Martens died from strangulation and had human papillomavirus (HPV).

Pathologists think this is evidence she was sexually abused before her death, which has shook the US city of Albuquerque.

In 2015, New Mexico had the third highest violent crime rate in the United States, after Alaska and Nevada, with 656.1 occurrences per 100,000 people.

Police discovered Victoria's fragmented body under a burning blanket in a bath after receiving reports of a noise complaint on her tenth birthday, August 24, 2016.

Her mother, Michelle Martens, 35, boyfriend, Fabian Gonzales, 32, and cousin, Jessica Kelley, 32, were charged with murder and rape.

Ms Martens allegedly acknowledged to witnessing Victoria's murder before having sex with Mr Gonzales 20 minutes later.


Police also say she admitted to promoting her daughter online to paedophiles looking to rape her.

Victoria's memorial ceremony and dove release at Copper Pointe Church drew hundreds of attendees dressed in her favorite color, purple.


According to the Albuquerque Journal, Victoria died from alcohol, not methamphetamine, as her mother had stated.
