On the 18th of April, the workers of the Thekla plane factory were locked in an isolated building of the factory by the Germans and burned alive by incendiary bombs. 

About 300 prisoners died. Those who managed to escape died on the barbed wire or were executed by the Hitler youth movement, according to a US captain's report

 Stutthof Concentration Camp guard 72 years ago today eleven members of the staff of Stutthof Concentration Camp were hanged.  Barbara Graham was born in 1923 in Oakland, California. She had a difficult and miserable childhood (sound a familiar story?). Her mother was sent to a reformatory when she was only 2 years old and thus Barbara was raised by neighbors and got little education.  As a teenager, she was promiscuous and in trouble with the law.   Captain Ben Salomon was a dentist who wound up on Saipan in the middle of one of the largest mass-banzai charges of the entire Pacific War.  Before it was over, he killed over 100 Japanese soldiers in defense of his aid station. An Indonesian woman has been found in the belly of a giant python after the swollen snake was captured near where she vanished while tending her vegetable garden, police said on Saturday (June 16). The body of 54-year-old Wa Tiba was found on Friday when villagers cut open the 7m-long python, which was found bloated in the village of Persiapan Lawela on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi.
