 Stutthof Concentration Camp guard 72 years ago today eleven members of the staff of Stutthof Concentration Camp were hanged. Stutthof concentration camp, 34 km. from Danzig , was the first concentration camp created by the Nazis outside Germany, in September 1939. From June 1944, Stutthof became a death camp as part of Hitler's programme of exterminating European Jews.  It expanded rapidly over its five year life and had many satellite camps. This expansion required a commensurate increase in staff and local people with Nazi sympathies were recruited.  Altogether some 110,000 men, women and children were sent to Stutthof. It is estimated that as many as 65,000 of these were put to death in the gas chamber or by hanging or shooting, while many more died of disease and ill treatment. Dale Eldon Christensen of Gray, Iowa, a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, was posthumously awarded the  Medal of Honor for his heroic actions on July 16, 1944, in New Guinea. Christensen served as a second lieutenant in Troop E of the 112th Cavalry Regiment. On July 16, 1994, along the Driniumor River in New Guinea, he single-handedly attacked and silenced an enemy machine gun.  Related :  Married woman caught red-handed che*ting with a married man Three days later, he surveyed an enemy strong point alone, then led his platoon in an assault that successfully destroyed the position. An Indonesian woman has been found in the belly of a giant python after the swollen snake was captured near where she vanished while tending her vegetable garden, police said on Saturday (June 16). The body of 54-year-old Wa Tiba was found on Friday when villagers cut open the 7m-long python, which was found bloated in the village of Persiapan Lawela on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi.
